Lisure Technology Has Just Unlocked a Milestone in Bioprocess Intensification (PI)—Real-Time 5X Inline Concentration of BSA Using Patented Steady-State Tangential Flow Filtration (SSTFF) Configuration on the M++ UltraPilot Platform

This success delivers what many in the industry have attempted but never realized: consistent, high-yield inline protein concentration under flow-through conditions.

Why This Matters

Inline concentration has long been recognized as a crucial enabler for next-generation biomanufacturing. However, attempts using Single-Pass TFF (SPTFF) by some industrial leaders have been hindered by gel layer formation, process instability, and poor yield at high concentration factors.

SSTFF changes the game. By maintaining a true steady state through tangential recirculation and advanced control, SSTFF eliminates the usual fouling risks while enabling robust, high-efficiency concentration inline and in real time.

The Result: 5X Real-Time Concentration with >95% Yield

In the latest study, a 0.2 mg/mL BSA solution was successfully concentrated to 1.0 mg/mL using SSTFF on a 0.1 m^2 cassette, achieving:

>95% dynamic recovery based on off-line analysis
Stable pressure/flow/plateaued UV absorbance (119–122 mAU) after starting-up
Well controlled transmembrane pressure (1.0–1.26 bar)
No membrane fouling over the test period
Real-time steady-state inline operation

This kind of performance has not been previously demonstrated by any published single-path TFF approach.
